Torbjørn’s Journey from Industrial Mechanic to Production Manager

After joining Kystdesign in 2014 as an industrial mechanic, Torbjørn Steinagard now leads production as Production Manager.

Torbjørn has been part of Kystdesign since the fall of 2014. He first joined us as an industrial mechanic, after coming across a job ad in the local newspaper. At the time, he had never heard of Kystdesign before. But after looking into the company and seeing the products, his interest was sparked.

«I was excited by what I saw. I think I was a bit hooked already then,» he says.

This year, he stepped into the role of Production Manager, where his main responsibility is to ensure that production runs smoothly. He works closely with the department leads in electrical, mechanical, machining and planning, helping them coordinate and work well together.

Great People, Great Products
What stands out most to Torbjørn is the people and the shared pride in delivering products that meet high quality standards. One thing he remembers especially well was moving into the new facilities in 2016.

We were still a relatively small, close-knit team, but suddenly had modern production facilities and our own test pool. That was a huge step forward compared to testing ROVs from the quayside with a mobile crane.

«Seeing how far we’ve come since then has been incredibly rewarding. There aren’t many places that do what we do, and we deliver something not everyone can. There’s a real pride in the work and in the quality of what leaves the building. That suits me well», he says.

Outside work, Torbjørn enjoys padel and photography, often bringing a camera when spending time outdoors.

We’re glad to have Torbjørn helping drive Kystdesign forward!
