Michael Thorgersen’s journey at Kystdesign began in 2021 as an apprentice. Today, after completing his trade certificate, he continues to build his career as a CNC Operator.
His first introduction to the company came even earlier, during a work placement. A few months later, he returned as an apprentice, and after earning his trade certificate, Michael continued his journey with us as a CNC Operator.
His interest in machining began at school, where he chose to learn more about CNC simply because he wanted to see what it was all about.
Enjoying the variety
Today, his workdays involve programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines to manufacture components for Kystdesign’s ROV systems.
Every day starts with a new list of parts to produce, but no two jobs are exactly alike.
What I enjoy most is the variety. There are many different ways to solve a problem, and every part brings new challenges.

Learning and developing
Throughout his time at Kystdesign, Michael has appreciated the opportunities he’s been given to learn and develop, and to take on new challenges and try new things. When asked what makes Kystdesign a good place to work, the answer comes quickly: the people.
Outside of work, Michael enjoys climbing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time on the ski slopes whenever he gets the chance.
From apprentice to skilled CNC Operator, Michael has become an important part of the machining team, and it’s great to have him as part of Kystdesign!
