Get to know Olafur, our Sales And Business Development Manager

When Olafur Gislason joined Kystdesign in May 2024, he brought with him a decade of offshore experience in Haugalandet and a genuine eagerness to bring our technology out into the world.

In the past year and a half, he has made exactly that impact, quickly becoming a key driver of our growth.

Stepping into the role as our Sales And Business Development Manager has been, in his own words, «an incredible upswing from day one».

What motivates Olafur most is the chance to polish the diamond that Kystdesign already is: exploring new opportunities, opening doors, and strengthening the customer focus around the world even further. Since starting here, he’s been blown away by the response from the global market, a powerful confirmation of the quality and innovation his colleagues create every single day. 

Olafur’s workdays are a mix of travel (which he thoroughly enjoys) and handling large and exciting inquiries. And although he often receives praise while meeting customers abroad, he’s quick to redirect the credit:

He takes great pride in how Kystdesign has managed rapid growth while still protecting the core values and culture that make the company special. Despite expanding to over 80 employees, the environment remains strong, respectful, and grounded. Something he believes is a rare achievement. 

Olafur calls his job his biggest hobby, but with three children active in sports, much of his free time is spent exactly where he loves to be: supporting them on fields, courts, tournaments, and travels. His family are true globe-trotters, exploring everywhere from the Middle East to the US and across Europe. As an Icelander, traveling feels natural!
