Kystdesign has signed a historic agreement with DeepOcean for the delivery of new E-ROV technology. The agreement is driven by growing market demand for fully electric ROV on future IMR contracts. DeepOcean has signed an agreement with Kystdesign for the delivery of 2x ZEEROV IMR versions and 1x ZOROV observation ROV, with an option for an additional 6x ZEEROV IMR and 3x ZOROV. Additionally, the agreement includes options for the further development of 4x specialized electric ROVs for heavier construction work and operations in areas with strong ocean currents. The first ROVs are scheduled for delivery in January 2027. The contract marks a significant breakthrough in modern E-ROV technology and will contribute to more sustainable offshore operations in the future.
“We are very grateful for the trust DeepOcean has placed in us with this contract,” says Tore Nedland, CEO in Kystdesign. “The contract also demonstrates that our efforts to strengthen our internal expertise and production environments have been the right move. Without our skilled and dedicated employees, this would not have been possible.”
A long-standing partnership and technological leadership have been key to securing the agreement.
“We have a long and good history with DeepOcean,” says Åge Holsbrekken, CCO in Kystdesign. “Such a contract would not have been possible if we could not document that we are among the best in the world in ROV technology. It is also a milestone for Kystdesign that we will now enter the market with our own observation ROV, something the market has been requesting from us for a long time.”
DeepOcean sees significant benefits in the collaboration.
“Expanding our ROV fleet with these additions will enable us to further strengthen the services we provide to our clients. The new units feature the latest and most efficient underwater technologies available and are fully compatible with our remote, autonomous and digital solutions”, says Olaf A. Hansen, managing director, DeepOcean Europe.
